What it is:
WordPress has tools to automatically share your latest post on social media when you publish them to your blog.
The platforms currently available to set up automatic sharing of your newest posts and articles include:
- Google+
- Tumblr
Why to do it:
Social media is important and this simplifies the process a bit.
Sharing on social media is a great way to reach people where they are. Make it super easy for them to remember your blog/website/product/company exists by popping up in their feed regularly.
Once you set it up, you hardly have to think about it! My favorite kind of trick – easy.
How to do it:
- The Jetpack Plugin must be installed and active. (Most of you should have this already as I use it on almost every website).
- Sharing must be enabled under Jetpack > Settings > Sharing
- Click on “Connect your social media accounts” choose which platforms you want to connect to.
(Depending on your website, it will look like one of these:)
Then, when you’re publishing a blog post, you’ll have some options under publicize. Choose which services to share to and change the text of your posting before you publish or schedule your post:
And you’re done!
Bonus:
During step 2, as you choose which social media accounts to connect to, toggle over to the Sharing Buttons tab to choose which sharing buttons show up at the bottom of your posts. These are the social media platforms you want your readers to be able to use to share your posts with others.
